Course was short. I didn't even get 3 miles on my Garmin. What can I say? I'm really disappointed even though this is a PR by 11 secs. (Time was 23:14) Why can't I get sub-23? All signs point to me doing 22:4x but I just can't get there. Ran a quick wu and was dripping in sweat while I changed my shoes and shirt. Jogged to the start where I found Jeff H. lined up & Tony L. wishing us well. Ran the first 1.4 miles with Jeff and then died a slow death after. Zero turnover in the legs. They were dead. Got a nice side-5 from my buddy Francesco S. towards the end. The ice pops after the finish were heaven-sent!

I want to stay positive and say this is progress but I'm just super upset :( Looking forward to starting marathon training in about 2 weeks. I'm sticking to what I do best - the long, slow stuff :)

5th in AG out of 129, so there's that.

Face it. You're an endurance chick. Nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, we should start a support group to advocate for endurance runner acceptance, in a world that values speed. Society is oppressing us. What do we want? Long slow runs! When do we want them? Now!

Nice time and pace still Chanthana, wtg! A OU all american gave me a tip on lowering my 5k time. Told me to do alot of tempos, that's mainly what they do(he runs a 13:35), I did that, it has helped my improve my times alot, 4 years ago, i was running 22:30 to 23minutes. Keep at it, ya get ya sub 23, enjoy the upcoming marathon training, :).

I know the feeling of poor races but still PRing. This is a great time but I know it's not what you wanted, Great job anyways and I have no doubts your marathon training is going to be awesome.

and don't be too hard on yourself. A PR is a PR! It was warm and you're going leave some time on the watch every time you race in temps over 55F, (especially in the spring). Toss this one in the pain bank and don't look back.

That's still a great pace, Chanthana. You will get there-it's a reasonable goal for you. Just keep at it. Runners are persistent people, so I know you will.

Fabulous finish time. You're fast alright. Nothing wrong with youre stats today! Great job! I know we runners all want to chase those 5K and 10K PR's. Sometimes time is on our side for that. You did well. Weep in your success.

Drop it. You're amazing on so many levels. This is not a seriously managed race, it's a fun run for a zoo that comes with a chip timer. And an ice pop at the finish. Sweat the serious races, and (by the way) we all thank you very much for your support of Lincoln Park Zoo, it's a Chicago institution that, with your help, brings so much joy to so many families. Keep turning heads!

You did great this morning. Don't be down. It's a PR and while not what you're shooting for this is really just the start of 5K season. You'll be sub-23 for sure. All this speed work will help with your mary training too.

It just wasn't the day! You still got a PR and your pace was fantastic! 5th out of 126 is impressive!! It is hard to be good at both (5k and marathons)! I, like you, feel like I should just stick to half marathons and marathons! However, 5K's are great speedwork and it is always good to keep throwing them in your training here and there!! Try and get another in soon! :)

Just wasn't sure day--I know that feeling well. A PR is a PR--you'll get that sub 23 soon (I'm sitting at 23:02, so I know the feeling well!!). Keep your eye on the marathon prize and that BQ. 5Ks are sucky, pukefests anyway. ;)

Many of life's problems can be solved with coffee and a manicure. Some, however, require wine and a massage.
