    Cross country 00:30

I like this program better than "weight loss." The intervals seemed shorter and harder. More variety.

  2. RUN
    ONE MILE 1 mi 00:13:07 13:07 pace

possibly the slowest mile in the history of the world, but I told myself I was gonna run a mile and I did. It's gotta get better from here!

Note I haven't run again since... That 1/2 marathon in April might turn into a 10K if I don't get back to it soon ;(

    Elliptical 00:30

Once again trying to get back into the swing of things. Did the "weight loss" program, which is really just long intervals. Felt good to sweat in the a.m. again.

  4. RUN
good Quad Cities Marathon Relay 5.61 mi 01:09 12:16 pace

Wow... I can't say enough good things about this race: Perfect weather, beautiful course, fun town, wonderful teammates. I wasn't fully "trained" for it, but managed to run th... read more

Oh, and great shirts and affordable, too. The *only* thing that was lacking was crowd support. But, other than that-- no complaints!

  5. RUN
    alright 4.67 mi 00:59 12:38 pace

Whoa, I knew I was going slow, but I didn't realize it was *that* slow. However, I thought I was only running 4 mi and it ended up being closer to 5. I'll take it.

  6. RUN
    0.81 mi

Ran to the gym, lifted for 45 mins, walked home

  7. RUN
    good 3.51 mi 00:42 11:55 pace

Best run i've had in a looong time. told myself i'd run for 30 mins. Felt so good I went for 40+

  8. walk
    0.5 mi 00:08:00 16:00 pace

    walk/run the last 1/2 mi

  9. RUN
    alright 1.45 mi 00:17 11:43 pace

<3 weeks til Quad Cities relay. Needless to say, I'm not quite ready.

  10. RUN
    alright 2 mi 00:23 11:30 pace

Different route. Same distance. Same time. I was going for 2.5 and gave up. I tell myself it's the humidity, but I totally could've done it. Next time.

  11. RUN
    good 2 mi 2 mi 00:23 11:29 pace

I'm going to stop saying "I'm back." I ran the usual 2 mi route. I felt good. I haven't run in a couple of weeks and I'm pleased with my time.

  12. RUN
    alright 1.7 mi 00:20 11:45 pace

After 10 mins on the elliptical I went for a 20 min run. Not a fast run, but I got it done. Then proceeded to eat and drink my considerable weight in beer and food. Happy weekend to me!

  13. RUN
    alright 2.02 mi 00:23 11:31 pace

Nothing noteworthy. Still trying to get back on track... again!

  14. RUN
    alright 1.75 mi 00:20 11:25 pace

Eh. Felt great at first. Then had a minor mishap with the phone/RunKeeper. Then felt a little queasy, so I cut it short. But, hey, this is an "extra" run so I'm not complaining.

  15. RUN
alright 2 miles of redemption 1.94 mi 00:23 11:36 pace

After the failed 5K on Saturday, I figured I should actually start training again. I planned on 3, but my procrastination and time only allowed for 2. I didn't run with a watch or my phone, ... read more

OUTSTANDING. I think there's some value in "redemption" runs. In fact, a group of us are theming Chicago '10 "Redemption" for our botched (ie "not what we wanted it to be) 2010 IL Thon! I think there's motivation in that... Time will tell, I guess. Regardless, yay YOU! Do you have another race on your calendar?

Thanks. My goal is to run 1 race/month from May (IL 1/2 marathon) through October (St Louis 10K). I'm doing the Bagelfest 5K in July, another small 5K in August, then I'm on a 5-person relay team for Quad Cities Marathon in September.

The 5Ks are really supposed to be training runs for the marathon relay (I think I'm doing a 7 mi leg), but clearly I need to take them more seriously.

Good luck in Chicago-- such a huge race!

    GROSS 2 miles 1.94 mi 00:22 11:21 pace

Weather.com says its 77 degrees and 10% humidity. My body begs to differ. First 1.5 miles were a fast(ish) 14 mins, but the humidity caught up to me. I did a walk/run combo at the end, but whate... read more
