Today's run was not a very good run. My legs felt heavy. The whole run I felt like lifting concrete blocks. I felt like I had no forward-movement - so I was very surprised to see that I ran a 12:56 avg pace.
Got shin splints around mile 1. They lasted until mile 1.5/1.6. Ran through them and hoped they get better.
Glad I got this run in. Happy to be done. Now I am off to have dinner with my grandparents and my husband.
avg pace 12:56 - avg moving pace 12:44
splits: 12:42 - 13:09 - 13:01 - 12:47 (0.52)

sorry about the shins! I hope the next run will be better!!

Good run & pace - I happen to have a theory that the rotten runs are what make us better runners, because despite everything, you continued on through (not dangerous) pain and mental blocks. I find I sometimes get shin splints when I start out too fast. Hope you had a wonderful dinner!

Your pace is getting so much faster! I was suprised to see you said it wasn't a good run, but I understand how you could say that with the pain and feeling sluggish. Keep at it girl!

@ Kate - You're right. These rotten runs help us to grow and become better runners. I have these shinsplints sometimes too. I start to fast and get shin splints. But usually I get them during the first half mile - not after mile 1. Running slower will get rid of them most of the time.
@ Genna - It was a good run - looking back. But it did not feel like it when I wrote this right after coming back from the run. Pain and "concrete blocks"-legs are no fun during a run.
