Good to know you're not having great results with the MIO. I'm still on the fence about whether to go with another Garmin or to try something new. Thanks for the review.

Yea, I had high hopes but so far it's fallen short of expectations. I still think that it's providing some value, but it might be another version or two of the hardware before it's all perfect.

I think it takes time for a HRM to "warm up," so I'll wear it a bit before running. Sounds like it was guessing 2x your actual rate until it settled.

Yea, the optical sensor is supposed to avoid all those issues, but it still has a margin of error. I'll have completed a full warm-up with it tonight before racing, so the data for that should be accurate. I've always been curious what my HR is during this race.

I was wondering about the Compex products. How much have they impacted injury prevention, injury treatment and muscle strengthening?
Also, great run for a sore foot :D

Harris: I only have used the Compex for injury treatment. I don't think it's possible to know how they impact injury prevention (can't prove the absence of something). For me, it has anecdotally helped with acute soft tissue issues as they pop up. I haven't used it for any of the resistance programs yet.
