great Tempo Run 14 mi 01:36 06:52 pace

Best tempo run yet! 2 miles warm-up, 10 miles tempo (6:30, 6:38, 6:34, 6:30, 6:31, 6:34, 6:32, 6:30, 6:29, 6:22), 2 miles cool-down. I felt great and in control the whole time. A man cycling yelled out "You're setting a great pace!" and when I passed a woman on the 10th tempo mile she said, "You look fantastic! There goes a real runner! I wish I looked like that!" I told her she looked great as well! Again, I love the encouragement from people while I'm training. It fuels me!

So here is a funny little piece of information. To run a 2:59:59 marathon, the average pace per mile needs to be 6:52. While I was training for Boston and doing my harder workouts, I would add my warm-up and cool-down miles into the total training time for the session and the average pace was always slower than 6:52. It was a mental thing for me and I always wished for a workout where 6:52 was my average pace including my w/u and c/d. I know it doesn't really matter whatsoever, I'm just weird like that.
