Boo-Yeah! This ride was amazing! The first 33 miles were climbing to 3400 feet ranging from a 2% to a 5% grade. Up, up, and away! There was a FANTASTIC (read 40+ mph) downhill for 3 miles, another 2 mile 5% grade and then coasting til the end.
The weather was overcast which I was fine with for my first ride at this distance. The sun came out at the end as a nice 'Congratulations' present.
Yeah the pace was only 17mph, but this was a beast of a hilly ride and I feel great for feeling strong all the way through it!

Any flats?

Great workout! You are pounding out the mileage. Your race is about 5 weeks away! Keep up the good work.

No flats! I have changed tires and have not had a flat since. My bike came with racing tires which are a lot thinner, lighter, and have less rolling resistance than regular tires. I have been riding lately on a thicker, heavier tire and I can feel the rolling resistance. I plan on buying a pair of racing tires from this same company (Vittoria) to change out for races only. All those flats whilst training costs a lot of money in tubes and C02.
