  1. greatTTON (Tuesday Track & Oatmeal... 6.25 mi / 00:44 06:57 pace

Oh how amazing it was to be on the track this morning. That past couple of weeks I have not been doing well on the track. Today was completely the opposite. Could it be that previously, I was running to hard on my Monday 'easy' runs? Yesterday I took i... read more

This is the worst swim since God separated the waters in the heavens from the waters on the earth. No matter what I did, NOTHING would propel me through the water. Workout was supposed to be 2500 meters but I was not fighting that anymore. What a waste... read more

I am sure it wasn't as bad as you thought. We all have bad workouts in the water or on the land. Tomorrow is a new day for a great swim workout. You have come so far with your swimming. I am quite proud of you.

  4. greatEasy/Recovery Run 4.07 mi / 00:31 07:40 pace

Wow, this is going to be more difficult that I thought. Coach gave me some heart rate zones to stick in. My easy runs (anything less than 6 miles) and my long runs I will be keeping my heart rate UNDER 151 (153 on longer to allow for drift). I hope thi... read more

He must agree with your strategy! Way to think ahead and way to pace yourself. I have to think about speeding up and you have to do just the opposite.

Great job on the mental training! It's awesome that you put so much thought into how you prepare. Keep it up!

For my burn-out recovery, I was doing the same thing, but had to keep it under 131. I can't think of anything more unbelievably irritating than that. And now I'm better.. so there is something to be said for this.

  5. Could this be the greatest pace/time/VO2 Max/Heart Rate/Etc calculator website ever? So much information here! I tried a bunch of different scenarios and they were VERY close to my actual values and race times. Impressive!

Aerobic the whole time with an average heart rate of 152 (I hit 167 on the first mile, the legs wanted to go but I had to reel them in). 15-20 mph wind for the last 7.5 miles. More on this run later. Posted from my iPhone.

Rain today. Why can't it rain during the week and leave my weekends alone? Those are long days. LUCKILY, this week is a sort of rest week in the long ride department. I was only supposed to do 45 easy. I hopped on the trainer and after 30 minutes of lo... read more

I feel you. I won't be able to run on Camp Pendleton this Sunday, those are my long run days too. I'm confined to the treadmill.

Yeah, this rain is nice for running but not for riding. I opted for yoga instead - where I could stay nice and warm and away from cars.

We all seem to have the same problem--week-end precipitation. We have so much snow and it has blown so much, we have no idea how much we have--at least 30 inches. Glad I got my long run in yesterday. My quads still feel like trash!

Caleb, I've been fortunate to meet Dean Karnazes a couple of years ago before the San Francisco Marathon. He's amazing! Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Cool movie. Had no idea about the ending. I wonder if he owns a car or just runs everywhere? I ran with him last weekend ... well, I ran with a group that ran with him. Close enough.

  10. greatOcean Swim 1000 m / 00:20

I watched the sunrise from the ocean this morning in 58 degree water with clarity so deep you could see fish everywhere. I was swimming hard so the cool water actually felt fantastic!
