rowed my chevy to the levee 12 km 00:51 06:47 pace

Today's rowing workout from Mr. Computer: Strength/endurance
500m w/u. 750m c/d.
12,000m with 9x500m at a low stroke rate (18-22spm), high intensity (114-140 heart rate). 750m recovery (23-25spm, 105-131 heart rate) between sets.

Let's face it. Getting up every morning at 4:30am so you can sit on a rowing machine in your attic and row till you almost puke isn't exactly something that makes you jump out of bed with excitement each day. I don't listen to music when running, but for indoor rowing, music has been a Godsend. Once you get the basic technique down, ergometer rowing doesn't require a whole lot of concentration, other than making sure you keep within the stroke rate and heart rate parameters for the particular workout. It's a perfect time to zone out with your favorite music, which makes the whole process more bearable. I try not to go too crazy with buying tech stuff, but did invest in a nice pair of wireless bluetooth earbuds for rowing, and a day rarely goes by that I don't use them. Well today, just a few minutes into the row, I started getting the low battery beep from the earbuds. Now that my rowing sessions have gotten longer, I need to charge them more frequently, and I guess I went too long between charges. So after just 5 minutes into a 50 minute row, I was without my music.
Man, I dig those rhythm & blues
I was a lonely, teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died

But somehow I survived.

    We started singin'
    Bye bye Mr. technical guy
Rowed your booty in the attic
    But the battery died
Them good ole boys were drinking' coffee with pie
Singin' this'd be a good time to cry
This'd be a good time to cry.

If the levee is dry, at least it's not an issue with an indoor rower. Nice work Bob! Did you make a final decision on Buffalo yet?

Sounds pretty touch and go this morning, Bob. Not sure how you made it through the musicless attic puke-fest, except I know you are one tough bastard.

Whew. Good work, sans-tunes Bob...technology is no crutch for someone as hard core as you man! Now I have this picture of you literally hanging out the window rowing (probably more like paddling) a broken down Chevy.

Oh my. I just HAVE to be on the run that someday you, Winston, and Randy will be on. You guys could probably sing us through a whole marathon--maybe ultra. Thanks to you, I'll have yet another Beatles song stuck in my head. I've heard them all semester as my daughter worked on the words for her concert. Here was her big debut solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQpF0bQeuHA

@Billy- I try! @Winston- you are a man of many talents. That was classic! @Barry- ha, good one! Buffaloes final decision comes tomorrow morning. @Mike- if the coffee machine was broken as well, it would have been all over. @SteveShep- I feel like a broken down chevy most days!

@Greg- yeah, it makes eating a bagel for breakfast seem more guilt free! @Karlee - wow, wow, WOW!!!! That was so wonderful!!! That kid has talent, and really can hit those high notes! And she looked right at home up there in front of everyone, which is an accomplishment in itself. Great performance, thank you so much for that! @Sarah- yumm, cookies!

With your purported voluminous sweating...the levee will never go dry! Nice row Bob. I'm with you..outside no music - inside/treadmill...music blasting!

@Mark- when I did my most recent 1 hour time trial row, I had 4 fans blasting on me, thinking that would keep volume of sweat down a bit. When I was done, I looked down on the floor, and indeed it wasn't bad, just a few paper towel worth. But then I got off the rower and saw a massive puddle BEHIND me, blown there by the fans. Out came the mop.
