Beautiful day to run and I planned on a long trail run, but had to cut it short. I'm a little bummed I seemed to have strained my right calf in the turkey day 5k.

Yeah, these are really interesting. The thing I am really starting to notice, in my Achilles, is that it is very hard to heel strike in these. They really keep me on my forefoot. Also, the grippy, flat outsole is almost silent on the road.

yes, you are sure to slow once you're on the trail for 6+ hours. Self-control during the first couple hours is difficult.

Wanted to verify that I can still run after my 25k trail race. My right hip is a little sore, but overall it seemed to go well.

No, I haven't run up there yet. I've heard a lot about the roots. Also, it can get very challenging if there's been a lot of recent rain. Apparently, there are several places where you will be forced to go through some significant mud. Part of the joy of trail racing, though, I suppose.

I can see where it could get pretty messy with rain. It's really scenic. I may try and go over there every few weeks to get a long run in. It only takes me an hour or so.

Hey, thanks Jocelyn. I am not ready for a Michigan race yet, but it was a little chilly for Texas this time of year. A day later I am not feeling too bad. Usually, it is the other way around with the soreness hitting the next day. For some reason, I felt really beat up just after the race. Now for a new goal. Ha.

Nice to see you again Brit! Hope your holiday have been good!

Eddie, The holidays were good. I am trying to get started running again after a bit of a layoff.
Mike, Move to southeast TX! It is muggy here 364 out of 365 days a year. Achilles is a little sore as usual, but the calf sprain is much better. I think I will have to live with the achilles tendonitis.
Carolyn, Thanks and Happy New Year!

That's unfortunate Britt. Good to see you back out there, though! I've also been off for a bit, but not because of any injuries. We just had our 2nd daughter on Nov. 22 and I've been pretty busy with her and the 4 year old, LOL. Anyway, good luck and Happy New Year!
