Was planning on doing 15 today, but didn't get started till late afternoon. Around mile 3 I was struggling and wanted to just call it a day. I stopped for about a minute to re-focus and continued on for 10 more miles.

Wow, way to rally and finish up the run after having a tough go of the start.

Way to push out that extra 10 miles. Great week and an excellent training all around for your upcoming race. Taper well my friend. You've done an amazing job of preparing yourself. You can go into this race with great confidence.

Michael - I am planning one more long run this coming Saturday and then slowly taper for 3 weeks.. does this sound like an okay plan to you?

Great work, Brian. That's fantastic commitment there. I'm impressed at the mileage when you were having an off day.

Everyone is different Brian, but this is the best taper I've had for a 50 miler. I checked back at my log and when I ran the NF 50 on Sept 19th last year this is how it looked about as far out as you are;
60 miles.....50 miles.....28 miles....and the week of the race I only ran twice 4 miles each and the 50 miler on Saturday. I felt great that race.

Brian, by the way my long runs went like this the 60 mile week I ran a Marathon(race). The 50 mile week I did an 18 miler then the 28 mile week I did an 8 miler.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Michael! Very helpful. Ironically, I had the following schedule planned for the next 3 weeks: 60, 52, 40 and then runs of 4, 3, and 2 on race week. Very similar to the schedule you used. I may thinking about dropping the miles in week 3 a bit based on your training; I'll see how I feel that week and then decide. Thanks again for your help!
