Best of success in your efforts to adopt another lifting program, Brian. I'm certain you'll be successful.

Be careful with trying new workouts so close to your race. New workouts means different muscle use and soreness.

Good point Michael! Maybe I'll hold off on lifting for the next 3 weeks..

Just a quick run to keep my legs loose and to enjoy the beautiful weather.

  3. goodJust a run in some really awe... 10 mi / 01:22 08:11 pace

Nice weather made for a nicer run. It's strange, but if I take a day or two off from running it seems to take about 5-6 miles before I feel loosened back up and running "easy". My fastest and most comfortable miles came after this point again... read more

  4. goodChest & Back - week 10

Finished my 10 week plan of getting 400+ pushups and 120+ pullups in the same workout. Now to make up a new 10 week plan :)

    Total Reps:
    Pushups 404 (12 sets)
    Pullups 120 (6 sets)

    warm up 10 min

    cool down 4 min

    ..worn out!

  5. goodPre-workout 5K 3.1 mi / 00:23 07:26 pace

Descent pre-workout run. Splits; 7:31, 7:26, 7:21, 0:46. If I would have known I was so close to 23min, I would have pushed harder on the last 0.1

  6. alrightWrapping up the weekend 13.1 mi / 01:59 09:04 pace

Was planning on doing 15 today, but didn't get started till late afternoon. Around mile 3 I was struggling and wanted to just call it a day. I stopped for about a minute to re-focus and continued on for 10 more miles.

Wow, way to rally and finish up the run after having a tough go of the start.

Brian, by the way my long runs went like this the 60 mile week I ran a Marathon(race). The 50 mile week I did an 18 miler then the 28 mile week I did an 8 miler.
      Hope this helps.

Thanks Michael! Very helpful. Ironically, I had the following schedule planned for the next 3 weeks: 60, 52, 40 and then runs of 4, 3, and 2 on race week. Very similar to the schedule you used. I may thinking about dropping the miles in week 3 a bit based on your training; I'll see how I feel that week and then decide. Thanks again for your help!

  7. goodSecond rainy run of the day 15 mi / 02:09 08:34 pace

A little quicker pace than this morning. This time I started slow, faster in the middle miles, and then a couple slow miles at the end to cool down. Still raining. I think the rain is here through the entire weekend.

Who's Dean Karnazes? Never heard of him. I've only heard of FIT Brian from Daily Mile: 31 miles in one day. I feel lazy with my puny 14 today. LOL. Great job, my friend.

Heck, I rarely get 31 miles in for a whole week! Very impressive!

  8. goodEarly morning run in the rain 16 mi / 02:19 08:41 pace

Got up at 4:30AM for this run (thanks to the motivation from Ward's post yesterday!).
First 10 miles averaged around 9min/mile. Then picked up the pace and ran the next 6 @8:30, 8:10, 8:12, 8:06, 7:47 and 8:14.

At least 2 more runs this weekend!

  9. goodStretching! 01:00

Have really neglected my weekly hour-long stretches. Definitely going to start doing these again. Feels great!

    • Madelyn H. Madelyn H.

wow I am the worst stretcher ever. I rarely if ever do it. I think I might make this something i try to start doing at least once a week

I've gotten worse and worse about stretching, I need to get back into my old routine. Hopefully your post will serve as the motivation I need!

I have never been a good stretch person. The only thing I can do is get in and have someone stretch me then be better during the rest of the week.
