Thanks ladies! I'm trying to get back into it. I need to get back into the swing of it like I was a few months ago, especially since I'm just over 4 months away from my half marathon! Eep! But having my son to keep me accountable is really going to help, I think!

Absolutely viable plan. I don't worry about pace quite as much in the summer. As long as you are comfortable with how your running/walking, your doing great. Lots of seasoned runners take short walk breaks in the heat to take a drink and cool down a bit. Your plan sounds very smart to me. I'm proud of you for figuring out how to make running work for you, instead of "taking the summer off" :-)

Ah heat. What I do... have an icy smoothie 15-20 mins before leaving (usually a banana, 1/2c soymilk, tbsp of PB and lotsa ice), soak my white running cap in ice water and flop that bad boy on my head right before leaving, along with a splash of cold water on my arms and legs (hey, works for kangaroos). Always bring water, and manage your pace for the heat. Some people stick an ice cube in their cap too, but that's a bit intense for me! Also, the more you do it, the more you get used to it. So keep it up!

That is ucky! I am whiny about our "summer" here in Seattle because there is virtually none, but I definitely don't want it to be 88 degrees at 5am! Yuck.

The heat always slows you down a little, even when you "get used to it"...which never completely happens for me. Best temp is between 55-65 for me. But I'll pound it out in the heat or cold when needed.

Thanks everyone. It's been a rough day for me, so all the encouragement here is very much appreciated and warms my heart! I wasn't able to do much, so since Sunday is supposed to be my rest day, I shifted it to today and I'll do some yoga on Sunday. That's my plan, anyways! Just a minor setback and only requires a shift in training for the week!
