WOW, that's a lot of international races! That's fantastic!!! :o) Well, if you decide to add one more int'l race, you should try to run the 85th International Sao Silvestre Marathon in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The date is December 31st, 2010. :o)

Michael, that's pretty awesome that you're back running again! :o) I can image how it is not to be able to run due to an injury. I have an unhealthy left foot and I've been dealing with that since 2002. Now I run wiser and I listen to my body more. I can't take any more off from running, I've been thru a lot these past years. Welcome back to your run!!! :o)

vern in between back-to-back's you mean? i do nothing but rest and eat in between those. doing monthlies...a week of rest then a mix of short and easy and 10-15's. the foot is feeling great (at last)...i thank a chinese herbal concoction called "the great mender"...worked in just 3 days.

Michael, yes-- I said weekly, but I meant monthly. I figured that in-between training must be significantly reduced when marathoning that frequently. Good news on your foot! The "great mender" must work very well!

  7. goodDELIGHTFUL SUNDAY MORNING 3 mi / 00:32

    back extentions 50 @110 lbs

My tummy hurts thinking about it. You must have rock hard abs! Everytime I think my abs are getting hard, I have my 7 year-old son punch them to see if they can stand up to the force. After I gasp for air, I realize that they need a little more "rock". Nice to see you are not getting discouraged!

Brilliant blog post, Michael - I'm with you 150%! The rest is hugely frustrating, though. Thankfully I've had no injuries for over a year (because I follow your excellent advice about rest!) so I've been fortunate. It must be driving you nuts that with all those cautions, you still got injured. I feel for you, friend! Heal quickly!

Let me know how you get on with TI. The best advice I can give is to not rush it. Just focus on the drills and move on to whole stroke swimming when you feel comfortable with the drills and being in the water. I think it took me 4-5 months to go from drills, to whole stroke swimming, to swimming non stop for 1000m. Something just clicked and I went from swimming 200m to 1000m instantly.

  10. good 5 mi

5 miles on the stationary bike then 600 ab crunches..then 12 laps in the pool. Tested my injured foot on the treadmill for about a minute and it felt okay. Still need a couple more days recovery. Jealous of all of you who get to run right now.

    • Sandi M. Sandi M.

yes injuries are no fun. Nice work on the crunches, bike and pool though Michael :-)
