I completed my much awaited clipless fall today with Pranav as the chief guest. The location was Hinjewadi Chowk. How the signal was red when I reached there and how Pranav made his esteemed presence right at my wheels are covered in the longer version of the story.
There was a rain when I headed out. Stuck to my plan of 25Kmph, Aerobic with 90 cadence for the first 28K. Right there my power link made a decision to part ways with my chain. The faithful part of the chain got itself lodged firmly between my rings. So now I am this mud drenched goofy guy stuck the side of the road with a broken chain.
I assessed the damage and took shelter under a road side roof and started the repair. Had to unscrew the rings to get the chain out. Decided pop a link and fix the chain. Just then Pranav showed up on his toy fit bike. He was very helpful and together we fixed the chain.
Then we rode along and reached Hinjewadi Chowk. Everyday when I pass this junction the signal will not be operational. The reason being I am too early. But today was different and signal had the last laugh. It changed to red. I wouldn't have even noticed had Pranav not exclaimed that the signal is working. Okay, now I have to stop, so I zigzagged through the waiting vehicles and reached the front and there I made the spectacularly ridiculous clipless fall. Pranav laughed his heart out :-)
The real HTFU part was that at home I had to transform myself from the mud drenched monkey to a respectably dressed parent in about 10 minutes flat so that I need not face the music at my son's school for being late. Totally HTFUed and scored some domestic cookie points.

Ah, the much awaited fall indeed! I'm guessing there will be much cheering on DM today :)

This event deserved my signing up at DM just to comment. You proved me wrong though. I had predicted that if you didn't fall at Mulshi, you wouldn't fall anywhere. So don't call me Nostradamus. Bummer!
Great ride back. Staying at your wheel is quite a task though.

Total and complete awesomeness! Like the report!
I've had a similar fall with regular pedals so I can totally relate. What jersey/shorts set is it you wear - price??

Yours truly actually broke an elbow, it does not get worse than that!

@Hitanshu: The one on the pics? It is branded CRAFT, I think Performance Bikes. It is not a team Jersey. I got it as a gift. This is the only proper cycling wear I have too.

Congrats Boni! ;) I haven't told anybody that I fell trying to get out of my toe clips in the second week of buying my bulldog. Have I? Well, I was being shy, I guess. Thankfully, it was right at the starting point. At my flats. Just a little scrape.. :)

^^ Actually, now I can pull those pins out of the foot of the voodoo doll. The next clipless fall is going to be harder, Boni - cos it will be on the road pedals on your CF bike.

Don't feel bad. When I tried clipless, I fell at a stopsign, then the next day fell as I stopped at my house at the end of a ride. It is inevitable when you start, and will never happen again once you get used to them. It is a crazy feeling!
