Noticed that you did a three week taper. Was that how it worked out or are you following a particular method. I've got a marathon in 3 weeks and plan my last long run (22 miler) 2 weeks prior. Just curious. good luck btw.

Hi Tim, sorry just saw this! I was following my own plan which leverages some of HIgdon but adds some longer mid week runs. I had debated between 3 week and 2 week taper and went with 3 week since the higher mileage had taxed my body. In hindsight, maybe a 2 week would have been better, still experimenting!

This will be my 7th marathon but never really had a formal training system or taper. 3 weeks seems long but thats what I committed to. Did 40 last week (14 longest), thirty this week (12 longest) and 20 very light miles next week. It seems long but that is what runner's world and Higdon recommended. tried to keep the same intensity up. Each race is a new experiment. We will see. thanks.
