i'd like to do below nine hours. i did 9:40 last year. the up run is a totally different beast. i still don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. we'll see. i mostly want to feel like i did my best, went to the edge and then went a bit farther.

That's a good goal, and a great way to think about it. My mantra is: Be willing to suffer. I tell my friends who are just getting intro running and are struggling, "If it were easy, everyone would do it." There is a certain, unique pride in pushing your own limits.

more hills on the treadmill. 1 x 1 mile @4%, 2 x 1.5 mile @4%. finding it easier. thought 1.5 miles at 4% would be more laborious, but i felt like i could've had a conversation if i needed to.

  13. RUN
    Treadmill 6.75 mi 01:01 09:02 pace

Brian, what neighborhood do you start from? What's your route? I'm in Ditmas Park and I need a new long run route. Thought the bridges might be interesting, but have no idea what the best approach is with traffic and lights etc.

I'm in Dumbo, so it's literally right outside my window. (I can see into my apartment on the bridge, which is cool and sorta unnerving.) The Manhattan is nice because it's predictable and not too crowded. They're doing work, so there is a bit of dodging construction workers.

Ah. Yeah the bridge is a few miles from me, and I never know what the best approach is. Flatbush Ave is the most direct, but y'know...it's not a runner friendly road. In general I don't like street running. Too many lights--no flow. Guess I could always take a train to the bridge and go from there.

Yeah, Ditmas is far. One run would be to go to Prospect Park, exit at Eastern Parkway, go down Union to Columbia, where there's a greenway that connects to Brooklyn Bridge Park. From there you get to the bridges. But that's definitely a bit of a hike.
