Been a bad boy this weekend! No exercise at ALL! In fact, i fell off of the diabetic wagon. Read about it in the blog. http://bigguyonabike.wordpress.com/

Hey Allen - good luck. Some advice - ditch all soda! One thing to eat too much, but the soda is really empty calories. And ride in the morning - get it done early. You give yourself an excuse to sit around, and you lower your chance to do something. I ride in the AM all the time, and it keeps your metabolism up the rest of the day.

Sorry to hear that Allen. I'm sure you'll get your mojo back. Have you considered a personal trainer?

Don't sweat it. You can get a trainer so you can watch TV and spin at the same time. That's what most of us cold weather people are going to do pretty soon.

I have few friends who have told me similar stories. I don't know if there is a right of passage, other than the cuts and bruises to show-off. I've not gone clipless yet, but I've been trying to train myself a bit when stopping to pick the same foot to put down and keep the other one on the pedal. I think I'll find a really grassy area on the day I convert to practice :)

I think that counts as a right of passage.....although we need to see scars! Let's hope that's the first and last time :)
The trouble is, when you're out on the road there's lots of distractions. If you focus to much on the pedals you'll probably miss a red light....which would be worseover 1 year ago • Like

Allen,
after a while you will be in an automatic routine for unclipping at intersections in a short while. no worries.

You re gonna love it Allen. I've been clipless for a long time. One thing that I did was place the cleat behind the ball of the foot rather than in front. It feels a lot more comfortable there for me.

I've had that happen to me a few times. Gotta fuel up before you go or make a pit stop at a convenience store and get some chopped fruit. Cantalope is good :) Those liquid gels work pretty good too.

Keep at it, you'll be riding miles and miles very soon! it's amazing how fast you can build up. Just keep riding that new bike :) I hate the hills too. But once at the bottom it feels good to mentally stick my tongue out at them, hah.
