First run since last weekends trail run. Everything felt really good. Still some soreness in my calf but I was able to run on it without pain so I figured things were ok. I didn't want to over do it so I kept it down to two miles.

A quarter of a mile of it I ran barefoot. That actually went pretty well. I don't mind so much stepping on the small rocks but I really don't care for when they stick to the bottom of my feet. So far I think running in my Bedrocks is my favorite right now.

Other than that, I felt strong and the weather had that calm before the storm feel to it. Awesome stuff.

Good recovery run. I may dabble with barefoot running this spring. Best of luck with your training.

Thanks all. I had expected to be hurting today as that's what I do and I do it well. To my surprise I feel just fine though. I should even be able to do some core work tonight. :) @scott When you do, do your research first. It's an entirely different mechanic from shod running. Don't push off and don't heel strike and definitely don't run your regular distance and pace at first. That said, it's liberating and feels great. An excellent training tool.

I am doing my research now... DM friends share wonderful suggestions, including your's. Being an XXL fella, I'm not entire sure how this will work out. I'm game for giving it a gentle try. Thanks for the advice!

The beauty of it is it's self limiting. If it hurts, slow down. Stop if you have to. Your feet will guide you. Also go check out the Barefoot Running Society (http://barefootrunners.org). Lots of good information and links over there too.
