Enjoyed my down week by sleeping in a bit and doing my long run solo. Run up 3 miles to Central Park, did a loop, then back down.
Used UCAN again - and made it my whole 12 mile run with nothing but Nuun water (electrolytes)
Took a 5 minute break around mile 8. Minutes before, I watched a cop run wave tourists on bikes through a red light and then roll through himself. Normally, who cares. Bu the NYPD has been on a ticket spree targeting cyclists in Central Park for riding through reds when no one is even around. They have set speed traps and have been all around dicks. I have been lucky thus far, but I have friends who have been ticketed and have watched people around me get pulled over left and right. So after seeing that cop run the red, I saw two other cops handing out "cycling safety" pamphlets as part of the anit-cycling movement that's been happening in the city.
So I told them I saw a cop run the red and I wanted to report it. I explained I've watched cops, probably even THAT cop target cyclists and that while I was on foot, I am also a cyclist and am upset and offended by the hypocrisy. They didn't like it at first, but it turned into an interesting discussion. Well, one cop was a dick, but the other seemed fair and intelligent and gave me his opinion - he doesn't think they should be ticketing cyclists and believes all lights should be flashing yellow at all times giving pedestrians right of way (as always) and allowing cyclists to get on with their rides. He then told me about the council meetings where I can voice my opinion and hopefully be heard.
Thanked him for the conversation and was on my way.

Great job! :)

I am so anxious now running in the park. I'm pretty sure most of the cops think this is a waste of time. When is the council meeting?
