Harder than the Incline? Its only uphill for half of the route then its all fast back down :)

It's a different kind of hard! The downhill isn't bad but the constant dodging of rocks and people made things a little more difficult on the way up!

I only like this based on the last part. I had achilles tendinitis last year and it sidelined me for the better part of two months. Your best (and only) course of action is to stop running for the time being. Take two weeks off - I know how disheartening that sounds - but you have to. If you try to run through it you risk the chance of tearing it. KT Tape, ice buckets, dry needling. Those are the three things that worked miracles for me, especially dry needling.

Dry needling? What's that?

Similar to acupuncture except the needles are inserted directly into the trigger point that is holding the tension and buildup. My going directly into the TP, it allows the tightness to break up and stretch back out by allowing the blood to flow through. It sounds painful but it's really not. That's something that is done by a doctor or physical therapist, however.

You can do what's called friction massaging to yourself where you would basically put a small towel or washcloth over your achilles tendon, pinch the tendon and start rubbing it side to side to break up the scar tissue and allow the blood to flow. One note - This. Hurts. Like. A. Mother. Fucker. Your PT will do it which helps because they can't feel the pain they are inflicting. :)
