Can't believe I have to run over twice this amount next Sunday. Hip acting up, but not bad... planning on rest rest resting it this week-- well, except for the whole moving-into-a-house thing we have going this week! :) :) Excited and curious about Nap... read more

I'm tapering my taper. I wish this were a real taper after a lot of good long runs...but I haven't had a good long run in over 4 weeks. 26.2 in 10 days. Damn hip-- heal already!

Smart move. Yup, 10 days to go. I hope you feel better.

Disappointed I didn't do more-- IT band started giving me grief, but the hip flexor is totally fine. Maybe the pain is just moving down my left leg and will exit via my foot! Opted to cut the run short than risk more injury... hard to know if it's a pa... read more

I feel your pain...non pun intended. Does your pain hurt the most the first few miles? I know mine does I either start feeling numb towards it or my body is over compensating to avoid it. Like you, I am curious if I should lay off of it until the marathon. Curious to hear suggestions.

Totally agree Pauline-- save it for the race day. I wanted to run today--but my body is rebelling big time. I remember when running made me feel better--not worse. Maybe I'm not made for the marathon...and I should go back to the halfers. We'll see I guess. Are you still planning on doing the SF Half?

I'm not making firm plans, but I'd love to do a half in under 2 hours this year. The SF Half in July might be a bit soon for that, I dunno.

Asha ran 4.3 miles in 39 mins greatFiesta Island Tempo – 4.3 mi / 00:39 09:06 pace
Couldn't bring myself to run 11:00 min pace anymore-- had to see what my hip flexor could do. Felt good until last mile-- but didn't feel bad either. Can't even tell I went for a run now. Still debating a LSD 22er this Saturday...do I dare?
-
I'd give it a try, if the hips are willing. And remember that 18 or 20 miles is an OK LSD too in case it starts to hurt.

Let's see, are we 2 weeks before Napa? Have you a route that you could cut short if necessary? I'm not sure running 10 miles straight and then turning round to head home is a good plan, but if you've got a circuit that's adaptable, then maybe give it a go.

Yeah...I thought about it all day today. I think I'll do something closer to 18 and if it starts hurting my husband will come pick me up :)

Here I've been waiting for you to blog and never thought to check your race time here. Silly me. That's a fantastic time for your current state of health.
And, yes, I'm fully healed (though I have a permanent bulge from massive scar tissue) after true rest. Now I just have to get back in shape.
4 days agoThanks Anne! I'm sorry about the scar tissue, but I'm glad you're back on the road. Maybe I will do the 20K you mentioned. Are you going to run it?
3 days agoAwesome race! Sorry I'm so late on commenting but that's a great time. Glad to hear the hip cooperated too! I came in just over 5 hours (knee trouble around 21-22) but was happy with that for my first one. Good luck on your training for your upcoming half!
