My 5 mile tempo run was thwarted by the stupid hills in my neighborhood. They aren't huge but they were enough to derail my run. I guess I need to try this run by the ocean. Or maybe I'm just trying to run faster than I truly can.
Mile 1: 10:27 (warm)
Mile 2: 9:06 (flat/gradual downhill)
Mile 3: 9:28 (all gradual uphill)
Mile 4: 10:10 losing steam
Mile 5: 10:14 just trying to hold around 10


hills are totally stupid i agree but great job!!! they do get easier (or so they say) whoever those people are LOL

Tempo runs are tough. I honestly don't know how anyone does longer than 3 miles...

Try easing more into the tempo pace. If you're looking to be around 9 min pace, do a 1/4 at 9:30ish then slowly pick up the pace. You're still doing great!
