This race was quite technical with lots of short steep hills and winding turns. I started out WAY too fast and skied with a group from the Peru Nordic Team. After the first lap I got dropped hard and realized I had 3 laps to go. Found another group, then dropped. Then another 2 skiers, and dropped again. I was so slow that last lap, I forgot I was racing.
Conditions were pretty fast. I did break the basket on my left pole so I had to ease up on the poling, especially on the hills but that sure wasn't my excuse.
I should keep in mind that it was my first ski race of the season, and I haven't been on snow that much. But I thought I would have done better.
