    Ended up walking more than I expected. My knee started acting up for the first time in over a year. It seems that once I go over about 6 miles, my left hamstring tendon starts to flare up.

      Take it easier on the miles. I would cut back the distance and maybe build up a bit slower so your body gets used to it.

    It was hot, hot, hot by the time my leg of the race came up. This killed my time going into mile 2. Still, the race served to motivate me to start running again.
