gross but reunited 27.6 mi

Yesterday after work I went to pick up my TT bike which had finally arrived home from Mexico. Reunited! Ahhhhh I love that thing so much. There is nothing like a perfectly dialed bike. One thing though, after the race, my brother was super nice and dealt with dropping it in the right place to make sure it would be picked up for shipping. He left my leftover race snacks on the bike instead of pitching them. He actually said he did it as a joke, not realizing that shipping would take a couple of weeks, but knowing it would be gross after a few days. The snacks were little squares of frittata with quinoa. Salty protein and carbs for a long ride. Hum. So yesterday when I opened the pouch... holyyyyyyy OMG. I was expecting maybe some fuzzy mold, not a big deal. Nope. The eggs had like melted into brown goo and were crawling with tiny worms. From Mexico. Ugggghhhhh gross! I took a video and sent it to him. Thanks buddy. WTF.

Anyway, I cleaned that out and loaded my bike on the trainer so it was all ready to go this morning. Pretty basic hour. Lovely.

And then so nice to bike into work in the crisp 30 something air and bright sun. I really need a different single speed for commuting though. Mine sucks. Maybe this will be a holiday break project. End of New Year Resolution.

ew. i've had to deal with maggots a couple of times in compost (left for a trip and forgot to take it to the bin before leaving, come home: maggots in the bin! yum!). Yucky. Gotta admire anything that can grow out of mold though. Wild stuff. Lovely ride! :) My Christmas Wish List includes a trainer. Though I don't know why, since we don't have any snow. ;)
Happy hunting for the single speed. I've never had one, but they are darn pretty to look at! :)

Oh nasty!! Tiny worms!! Yuck! When you load the bike on the trainer, do you switch the back wheel? Or which kind of trainer do you have?

with gears for commuting i highly recommend either a Trek FX (probably a 7.2 or 7.3), or a Giant Alight (which is what I have, though it was a toss up between it and the Trek, which my husband has). Both have good price points for a commuter bike. I have no idea why I'm telling you this, I know you know how to find a bike. ;) Plus, you said fixie...so...I think I should finish my coffee now and stop with the unsolicited suggestions. ;)

Surprised the US customs didn't impound the maggot sandwich on the way in, but glad you were able to get the bike on the trainer despite that additional difficulty :)

Good to have your baby back. That's a sweet bike! And holy nastiness. I don't think carbon will absorb stench. Hopefully not! haha I'm on the market for a commuter bike as well to replace my stolen singlespeed. Do you need the bike to have bosses for a back rack and panniers?
