let me start by saying this was not a smart idea.
1) I had two huge slices of @streetzapizza between 1-2pm.
2) I had a spotted cow (beer) between 1-2pm.
3) Jason M. mentioned this 5k was happening at 3pm.
4) Kim Ellen and I guilted each other into doing it, even though we had been eating pizza and drinking lots of coffee and such.
5) it was hot
6) I had gut rot (see 1-2)
But I went out there and did what I could ran most of the race (I think my time might be just under 50:00 but we'll see when I get the chip results). First mile was good. Second mile, I started getting side stitches and there was a stupid hill. My run became a shuffle. Third mile, I thought I was going to throw up and the side stitches were horrendous. I was practically crawling.
Did I mention it was hot and I'd already done a couple miles of walking and sort of running during the Great Milwaukee Race today? (GMR is a scavenger-hunt like race I helped organize with FitMKE).
I ran/jogged/moved-one-foot-in-front-of-the-other until I had about a half mile left and stopped to walk a quarter mile, then I picked it up and ran in to the finish. There was free beer for participants at the finish but I couldn't even get 1 down. #beerrunningfail
Good to see Marge G. Julie Lora Jen Jason M. and of course, Kim Ellen
It's possible I PR'd today, but I'm not certain. You see, my first ever 5k I had a chip time of 50:16 but a Garmin time of 50:27. Today, my Garmin said 50:22 but I don't know what the chip time is. I saw the official clock as I finished and I'm pretty sure it was still 49:xx plus I crossed the start line at the back of the pack, but started my Garmin when I started running. Who the hell knows.
My 5k time SHOULD have been in the 42-48 range. Next time, I'll plan ahead and not be stupid about it.
SPLITS/PACE: 14:57, 16:25 (water stop, hill), 16:47(side stitches, nauseous), 14:07 (2:14 for .16mi)
