James K a short race recap.. ...
Dailymile makes it easy to keep track of your workouts. Map your routes and share with a community of active people.
A short race recap.. 22* at the start and about 32 at the finish. Race pace started out fine.. went a little fast on mile 3 & 4 and felt I suffered a little on mile 5 because of it.. this course has rolling hills and a couple of gradual inclines that make it pretty tough to maintain a consistent pace.. so best to just run with consistent effort.. which can make the splits look pretty strange.
The big negative on the course is the conditions of the streets.. lots of uneven patching for most of the miles.. but that is just the way it is in the city...
I gave it ALL I had to day.. there was nothing left in me at the end.. this was the hardest 1/2 I have ever run.. it really zapped me.. the wind at times was just brutal.. the last mile was in a bitter head-wind. OUCH! That was tough.. but overall I'm not displeased with the time. It is my best time on this course and my second best in this event.
Splits: 7:10 ; 7:02 ; 6:50 ; 7:08 ; 7:22 ; 7:12 ; 7:32 ; 7:38 ; 7:10 ; 7:26 ; 7:06 ; 7:15 ; 7:28
10K 42:58 (@6:55 pace) ;
15K 1:05:57 (@7:15 /mi)
Finish 1:35:14 @7:16 /mi
THANKS for all the support from ALL my DM friends.. it is much appreciated!

AWESOME JOB!! its so awesome that you gave it your all. What a great reminder to yourself of your strength! the streets did have some tough patches. Running through the water stations I mean instant ice patches was tricky too.

I think it's safe to say you're back. If the conditions were anything like my race - and it appears they were - you earned every second of this course PR. Congrats!

What a great race! I would be incredibly pleased with what you did, disregarding all the conditions. But with the weather and the streets and the wind, you did outstanding!

Geez James, sorry I missed this for so long - nice job on the half, a strong performance, wind really messes with your head, especially when you face it near the close of the race. Hope you are recovering well!
