Well, this was the first race that I ran where I stopped, took off my shoes and ran barefoot. I only lasted a mile, but it was fun! And, it hurt a tad. See, I wore my old trail shoes because I thought there was going to be river crossings. Turns out, there wasn't and the old kicks were causing my knee to twinge. That, and there was a lot of thick dirt that some would call sand that didn't help it any. Wouldn't you know I took my shoes right when the sand ended so my barefoot run was on a lot of rocks. I'm shocked that I did it, but it was fun. I am not certain I will become a barefoot runner anytime soon, but you never really know with me...I manage to keep myself on my toes even! Placed 4th in my AG. Mark T. and Shannon T. rocked the course, and it was good to see Meghan A. before her 30k and a few other friends running different distances. A great morning on the trails overall!
