good Commute to Noah's 1st Birthday Party 21.27 mi

Today Noah celebrated his 1st birthday. Noah is our friends baby boy. The party's menu called for a total carbo load of pizza. So why not commute, burn some calories, have some pizza and keep enjoying this great weather. So we did.

Quickest route between two points? A straight line. So Queens Blvd it is :(.

On my way to Oakland Gardens. Boom! Flat tire #1. QB too many potholes to mention. Put on my spare tube. Pump away. Not happy with the tire's psi. Went over to a gas station to no avail because unfortunately I didn't have an adapter to fit the air pump. Continued to pump air into the tire using my bike pump. Shhhhh! Flat tire #2. Valve is ruined.

Took the subway to nearest bike shop "Spin City". Got the tire fixed and finally purchased my first CO2 kit :)

Back on our commute. Union Turnpike was the best part of the ride by far minus the bus stop pavements.

All in all enjoyed a great day of riding. Gained some bike experience that will very much help my Triathlon racing. Hope you all had a blast today, riding, racing, chillin' in the park, ......Happy training all!

Life is an adventure. Mishaps happen. We just have to use those experiences, learn from them and move on with the enjoyment of life. Happy training @Michelle.

I agree that the tough rides will make you stronger mentally. I was lucky to have a more experienced rider with me to give me some useful tips - like don't take your tire all the way off when changing a flat.

Wow, flats never happen at convenient times, of course :) Great learning experience, though...
