great Track practice 8 mi

Feels so great to be feeling good again! Did race-prep workout of 8 x 400 in 82-85 with 400 jogs in between, then 1 mile @ 5:37. Stayed relaxed, felt great, legs didn't feel heavy. Soooooo much better than last week! I am so happy!

So, that's pretty cool - 400s pace per quarter roughly equal to pace for the mile. Gotta try that one! I have 2k intervals tonight and they're gonna suck!

Lets have some some fun. We'll have a contest to predict Ariana's time this weekend for her 10k race. The winner gets something yet to be determined. Lets see now, her most recent 5k was 18:08 and that was on a trail course in warm weather. The 10k course this weekend in on the roads and reportedly is a fairly fast course. Ariana is probaly in about 17:45 shape on the track with cooler weather conditions. My prediction for her 10k this weekend is 36:46. Post up your guesses everyone.

36:30 is going to be tough. Her 5:22 track mile and a 17:45 don't project out to a 36:30 10k.

Don is right, 36 is very very fast even for a fast course. 38 would be great, 38:30 still great. BTW, I'm glad someone else got the 400m repeat memo! :) Nice!

I think she did a 12K at an under 6:00 overall pace about 8 weeks ago. Stronger speed training since...much cooler weather in SD...I predict she'll sub 36 that bad boy...my guess is 35:55.

I didn't think that was the bet Donovan. I was betting Ariana wasn't going to hit the time you predicted. Tell you what, I'll put up two lunches to your one that she doesn't break 36. Or If you want to predict a slower time for her I'll let you change your time. Your call Donovan.

OMG!! HAHAHAHAAHAHA!!! I didn't realize this was going on until now!! ahem- Don, I think I ran an 18:06 at the last 5k. :P Donovan- you have high hopes for me my friend. I predict 36:33. I want to join in the bet too. :)

Would you like to wager lunch Ariana? I say 36:34 which means if you run your time or faster you win and if you run slower than 36:33 I win. To me it's just like handicapping a horse race. I'm not doubting you abilities. I am just analyzing your past performances and coming up with a adjusted 10k time based on those previous efforts. There are a few intangibles that could throw me off like how fast the course is and how the weather is but that is the chances we both take. Wager on?

I just need you to pick up your pace from your 36:33 projected time by a half second a mile so that you make my prediction of 36:30. I just run the Seattle RnR half and missed my goal by 20 seconds. If I would have just run 1.5 seconds faster each mile. You can do it Ariana.
