This was my first 20 mile run since the marathon last October and I'm pretty happy with it. Jenn agreed to meet me for the final 8 miles and I was VERY happy about that! It seemed like it took an eternity for me to get to our meeting point and that irritated me a lot.
The heat and humidity made for less than ideal conditions, and when it started raining at mile 10 I did a little dance of jubilation. However, the rain combined with the copious amount of sweat I'd produced made my shorts a tad heavy and I had to use the rubber band in my hair to keep them from falling down. Thank goodness for my children...had it not been for the duck-shaped Silly Band I'd been given a few days ago, that seems to have taken up permanent residence on my wrist, I would have not been able to put my hair up again and retain my semi-cuteness.
Jenn pushed me through the last few miles when I really started to break down, and I can't thank her enough! All-in-all, a great run. Fueling seemed to be perfect (gel every 5 miles and sports drink in between)...I will use this routine going forward.
