great Awesome short-long run 16 km 01:19 07:56 pace

Today I realized what miracle good weather can do for a semi trained athlete on semi junk food diet! :-) Broke the 1:20 barrier for a 16k and felt great!

The morning air was cool and crisp with an occasional hint of breeze, which made it perfect for running. The sun was up when I started and made the first hour nice and warm. (Sunglasses were worn, style statement made. :P) Ran most part of the last 4k in the sun light and was a little tough, but hey, no complaints! I knew I could do it today after the second mile itself as I was able to sustain an increased pace running up and down.

Now, jokes apart, how do you guys avoid being fed junk food in social/company gatherings? When I try to say no, my colleagues tease me, "Yaar Adhokshaj, 20km bhaagta hai aur ek pakoda ke liye rota hai. :P" Sigh. Help, please!

Personally, my experience with eating junk food before a long run has been an improvement in timing accompanied by a slight belly. :-/ But one should train lean and race with carb overloading.

    I totally agree in junk food. I ate a ton yesterday and my run today, aided by good Chennai weather felt wonderful. Weird.

    @Mani: Thanks buddy. I'll call you in the afti. :-) But weather is VERY crucial my man! And junk should be had only before a race. Not regularly. :-/
    @Sachin: Thanks yaar.

    the problem for me however is that a lot of junk intake translates to 'runs' of a different kind !

    :-) Yes. You should try and test what junk food works for you. Pizza is a good option, keeps stomach stable. :P
