good Farthest run in hostile weather 24 km 02:15 09:03 pace

To sum it up, the first 90 minutes were very difficult. It was humid but with overcast skies. No trace of a breeze and that knocked the wind out of me by 11k (1 hour). It rained after 90 minutes and conditions improved a lot and I was able to finish the last 8k in 45 minutes.

Now the boring details:
I realized that the weather was not good when my socks started wetting at the 10k mark (a standard benchmarking procedure :P). I feel that there are two ways to determine how the weather was: The wetness of socks and shoes at fixed distance and the colour of urine after the run. (Dark yellow usually means you can stop blaming yourself.) Both the methods spoke for the humid weather today.

After 1 hour 30 minutes it rained like crazy. There was a breeze but it was headwind. :-/ Still managed to shuffle through all this to finish HM in 1:57 and took a walking break.

I swam through the last 3k. The thing about heavy rains is that they help you understand the topography of an area. So when the water is flowing towards you, know that you're climbing up. Also, the width of the water stream indicates the slope. Narrower the stream, steeper the slope. But running in rain can make you complacent, and I learnt it the hard way. All these weeks I thought I was improving, but in reality, the weather was! :P

At least today, I thanked all the rain gods, for without the rain, I could not have finished the distance :-) Finished the distance in 2:15. It was 5 minutes off the target.
But then, there's another day, another run. :-)

PS: Quads were sore towards the end. Are still sore.

What, another half under 2 hours, longest you have run. Great going. You seem to have identified issues like quad strengthening. About humidity, you are still a part chennaiite, so you are a master if accepting it as part of training but glad rains came. Keep at it and you are progressing well

Good run / biathalon! Yes I know about you and your wet socks. The first time I met you you were wringing out the sweat(?) from your sodden socks!

super one Adhokshaj! Given the conditions, this is far better than a fair-weather 2:10 :) Also, very well written. Loved the '... thought i was improving, but the weather was' , bit ! Keep them coming!!
