Nothing like a run in the woods, in the rain, to make you feel alive! The plan for this morning was to run comfortably hard for the first 3-5 miles and then disappear into the woods off the rail trail for some single-track therapy. Nice cool rain the whole time. Negative split the first 3 miles - 09:39, 08:23, 07:55 and then ran two amazingly consistent miles on the rail trail (08:26, 08:26) before disappearing down to the river for the rest of the way. I kept the level of effort comfortably challenging on the single-track, ending up with splits of 10:01, 09:43, 10:07 - which are pretty fast for me in the woods. Much of the trail is overgrown with green - ferns washed my legs and low hanging branches my shoulders and head. The sky a constant shower head.

Wore the Merrell Trail Gloves and felt great until the very end of the run. Ran the last half mile or so with very water logged shoes. Some hot spots I'll have to deal with but otherwise, right as rain.
