You know you are in a taper when you have inexplicable pain from NOT working out. Seems as if all the pain I would be experiencing from regular training has decided to have a heavy metal mosh pit in my shoulder and neck. One I didn't attend and one I am having serious stiffness and spasms from. Needless to say I'm cranky and angry and have just dived into the codeine and coffee to make the best of the morning and hopefully be settled enough tomorrow. I'm nervous about my upcoming race next Sunday, the one I've been training 10 months for but hopefully I have my fitness stored up. No amount of training I intend to do will put me in better shape for this race, I think rest and recovery will do and I'll just blow it all out on race day. I had good races leading up to next Sunday so I think I'll be alright. Pain during taper, I hear, is pretty much an expected symptom.
