Had a great tempo run today, ran 9 total, with 5 at tempo pace. I was aiming for sub-7, but found my tempo groove @6:30. I felt very strong, even at that pace, so I know I can run faster and/or farther at that pace... avg HR during tempo was only 154 as well. It always feels great when a run exceeds your expectations. :-)

Nice run. I'm not sure I could manage a fast 5 if I had 4 more miles on the run.

Nice run Zach, I was dying at 6:28 pace so I know I have a lot of work before NY. Looks like your prime for a PR!

@kyle, the extra 4 miles are the fun miles... 2 miles wu and 2 miles cd... no required pace, just run and enjoy it...
@javier, is NY your next race? are you doing the full or 1/2? as you know, running 5@6:30 is just a small step toward running 13.1/26.2 at that pace or under 7... I'm confident a PR is within my reach though, come Oct. :-)

I've always kept my warmups as short as possible and skipped as many cooldowns as possible. It'd probably be to my benefit to have a little more discipline on that front.

I say it would benefit you greatly to have more adequate warm-ups and cool-downs... on speed work days my warm-ups are always at least 1 mile, though I prefer 2, because I usually don't feel ready to kick it up a couple notches until then.
