I was looking forward to running up and through Griffith Park like I did last week, and then just adding an additional mile on the way back; but today's run seemed much tougher than last week's. The first part of the run went well, even ran an expected loop through the old zoo area, where I'd never been before, prior to getting to my turn-around point at the Ranger Station. The heat though I think got to me on the way back, as did not having any gels for extra energy. I did get my water stops at the Ranger Station, at a picnic area about 1.5 miles away from the station, and then the last one at Mountainview park on Riverside about 1.5 miles from there; and I did have my Fluid Performance drink with me and took a salt tablet at mile 9 (picnic area water fountain), but I needed more. It hit me between miles 11 and 12. Luckily, I found a second wind and finished strong. I'm glad to be done. :-)

Your pace doesn't reflect a troublesome run. Well done.

true... in the end I was pleased with the result, but during the run, I was losing motivation and energy between miles 11 and 12 - which is why I blame the lack of a gel and the heat to some extent.
