  6. my @OCMarathon race report - finally :-) Why does running 26.2 miles in a race always hurt so much more and leave you so much more sore than running 20-22 in training?! I would love to get to the... read more

Have had many similar experiences ( pr but still not to expectation) I have tried to break the ultimate goal time into more manageable chunks. For instance, break a fifteen minute reduction into 5 minute per race mini goals. Takes longer but psychologically easier and less likely to result in a huge flame out. Nice job getting that PR!

Nice race report Zach. I think you would have hit your goal had you not had to walk but it's real tough to do especially after passing mile 20. I really believe you will BQ in Long Beach. Having done both races myself I can tell you that LB s a lot easier. Congrat's on the PR!

Thanks all! Last week definitely felt off, starting with my frustration and disappointment, and continuing into the week with my soreness and lack of endorphins (from taking the week off of running)... but I'm not going to let that hold me back any longer! Coach has got some great plans in store for me, and I can't wait to attack them starting this week!

Saw this post sneak in here. Great job snagging a PR! Any time you PR in a marathon, it's a huge deal. And we both know you have faster marathons still to come!

Any thing you did in training that you would or wouldn't do next time?

not sure, Coach @Caleb had me on a pretty rigorous training regime, and I seemed to rise to those challenges fairly well... which is why I felt fairly confident going into the race, and is part of why I'm frustrated with the outcome.
