Funny that you would be running in the rain while I ran in the sun today, granted it was still cold but the sun came out. You would think it would be the other way around. Nice 9 miles Zach!

thanks guys! it felt great, and I had high hopes for today, but my running plans have gotten overruled... the evening plans turned into early afternoon plans, which means errands have to get done sooner, and an early morning run turned into sleeping in because my cold was making feel groggy and congested :-( maybe I can get in another run tomorrow somewhere between the Man Utd v Chelsea game in the morning and the Super Bowl in the afternoon

oh, and David, my goals for my next marathon, the OC marathon May 6, are 3 fold: first - I want to PR: run faster than 3:16:16; second - I'd like to BQ: run faster than 3:10; third - I'd like to run fast enough to actually get in to Boston: run faster than 3:05. So far I'm pleased with my chances since my training seems to be going well and I'm only in my 5th week.

true... in the end I was pleased with the result, but during the run, I was losing motivation and energy between miles 11 and 12 - which is why I blame the lack of a gel and the heat to some extent.

The Kinvaras are great! They are a neutral, 4mm drop very light shoe - so yes, most people would classify them as a minimalist or at the very least, a shoe to transition into more minimalist shoes. :-)

there are a ton of possible variables that may or may not have contributed. all other things being equal, i definitely notice a difference if i'm thinking too much about maintaining a pace or heart rate rather than running by feel.

Thanks David, no, I'm not running LA (unless someone decides to sponsor me and pay for the registration)... I'm training for the OC marathon May 6th... registration costs, etc. prohibit me from running more than a couple races a year, and I wanted to run a spring race so I'd have a solid amount of time to train for it
