Take care of that shin Danielle. I had shin splints and it's a nasty injury. Bought new shoes and started working on my technique. It worked for me luckily... Good luck!

Oh, it was great John. I was running, listening to my music and I noticed 5 minutes passed but the C25K lady wasn't telling me to stop. I checked my Blackberry and sure enough it was 8 minutes. My inital thought was "F**K! I can NOT run 8 minutes" but I just couldn't stop...just kept running. I just did it, and afterwards I thought, that was nothing...I couldn've went another 8 more

I would recommended trying some isometrics as well, if you are going to get a workout online. The main reason is that, even if they show a lift comprehensively and completely, it is hard to get the feel down unless you are focused more on the muscle and less on apparatus, etc, I can run my clients through things they have done before and completely change the targeting/engagement by tweaking the form. Iso makes you think about the muscle more; there are no excuses for a lack of contraction. Iso THEN lift!

Hi Danielle, I think you'll get that and more as you continue to work on your goals and meet new challenges, and it's the coolest thing when someone says "You're crazy", to just answer "Uh huh." :) Don't ever let someone else discourage you, keep on going because you know how wonderful it makes you feel. And most of all, I always focus on the fact that I'm achieving something incredible for myself.

DEF use that crap for motivation! And BE ambitious! I find that certain people will say things like that when they dont bother to get off their asses and do anything. Others will be amazed that you do what you do (and insist that they couldn't do it when they could). Rack up those success stories and achievements! Run your ass off, and you dont have to say anything!

About a year ago I decided I would train to walk a marathon in May 2010. When I told my dad he basically said "do you think that's a good idea?" Wasn't he surprised when I trained for 7 months & did, in fact, walk that marathon. You CAN do it!

Hi Danielle. First off, you got out there and did something today, even if it wasn't the distance or time you wanted, you did something great for yourself. Keep your biggest goals in mind, but find a lot of smaller ones along the way to keep you excited. Whether that be fitting into the next size down of clothes, taking another 30 seconds off your mile time, running just a little bit farther than you've ever done before. Find silly, sometimes crazy things that put a smile on your face when you're....
