By some miracle I needed sunglasses while running yesterday. Today I have painful lumps under my scalp where the arms of the glasses came into contact with my hair(the little I still have). No mar... read more

good Heartbreak Hill detour 20.81 km 02:02 09:25 pace
Made a tough half marathon course with some decent hills. Wanted to cover some parts of Dublin marathon to reacquaint myself and be better prepared this year. Main aim was to maintain a steady pace... read more

good To my folks and back 36.55 km 01:44 13.1mph pace
So much wind. Even the downhills were tough. Cycling is loosening up my back so must keep it up.

Is it just me or have the last few months been windier than usual? Definitely not the cyclist's friend.

Commute via RDS 14.61 km 00:42 12.9mph pace
Home via the rugby match. Cheered me up despite being a nervy game. Cycle also seems to have loosened up my lower back and has given me some relief. Good to be exercising again.

Good stuff Yann, yes they kept us guessing until the end. hopefully they can keep it together for another 2 weeks. D'arcy's injury looked a bit ominous

Yeah and a little worrying that Drico and Ferg looked the worse for wear. Tense and enjoyable game. A lot to play for yet.

great Balls to the Wall 11.68 km 00:56 07:42 pace
No juice in the tank but needed a strong run to clear the head. Raced the bus home and lost by a minute. Some of the drivers and I are acknowledging each other when we pass. I like to think they kn... read more

Nice run Yann. there is a lot of science around HR training, the basics are 220-age= max HR. Training zones relate to the max HR level, the closer you are to max HR, the quicker you burn energy and blow up, trying to build a base in a comfortable HR zone, and using targeted workouts to push the envelope.

great Commute plus errand 18 km 01:34 08:21 pace

great Commute In 11.97 km 00:35 12.6mph pace
Took a week off to rest an injury and do physio with limited success. Taking to the bike to keep the weight off and keep the joints moving freely in the hope that my knee and ankle will heal.

stick with the physio Yann. Most of us fail with physio because we dont do the exercises we are given> I'm speaking from experience here! Good job on the commutes, the wind is like November!

Cheers Brian. Have ditched physio in the past because results were initially good. Expensive mistake to make.

Was really enjoying this one so tacked an extra loop. Love running without paying too much attention to pace. No music so felt very peaceful by the time I got in the door.

Great Performance:
Yann, super running! All the years I've been going down there and the weather has been great. Therefore it was totally expected by me that the weather would be tough this year, given that I wasn't there!:-) true Irish logic! Well done!

Thanks Brian. I kept an eye out for you there. Hopefully you will be there next year. Was chatting to the race director after who said you could factor in 12-15 minutes easily for weather conditions. Mixture of pain and buzzing this morning. Bring on the next one!

great Commute 11 km 01:02 09:07 pace
Week's unplanned break did me no good. Tired, sluggish and very cold. New duathlon bag means I can carry more, so I did. Not a great idea even if the bag is fantastic.

Yours was a really impressive race and result Guillaume. Thanks I go through good and bad phases :) I plan to do the Dublin marathon in October and possibly another before that but my main aim is to step up to my first ultra (Connemarathon) in 11 months time. A big jump so plenty of miles to log between now and then. Continued success in your running.
