Wish you a speedy recovery. Swim sessions will surely help physically and mentally. I think wearing reflective materials ( jackets or a strap ) while running in the dark will surely help.

Though I am not at all knowledgeable about vegan issues and can't suggest alternatives for a milk-free existence, I'm going to make some "nihilistic" statements about Spirulina (and may be blasted for the same!) I do not decry the nutritional value of these supplements but they are outrageously priced (per gm protein in this instance)! The humble Gandhian Groundnut that you have been familiar with, is far more cost-effective (especially for you, without worries about excess calories).

Trust me Dr. Ram, before i am done with Vegan, i would have found cheaper source for protein (even the humble groundnut is beyond a Gandhian's pocket!). I am now trying to prepare Soymilk at home, that is my this weekend's project.

You can try Soymilk and Jaggery - its a cultivated taste:). Why give up sugar? If its for health reasons, then you could give up white sugar and use unrefined brown sugar.

I remember being extremely touched reading Gandhiji's "My experiments with truth". This was in College when it was fashionable to be disparaging about him but i found his book to be so refreshingly honest, it brought tears to my eyes.

Vishy. Utilize this break to ink down "My Experiments with Running". Our people certainly need to recognize that there are far better sporting activities than cricket. (BTW, I don't consider cricket as a sport).
