My friend Shawna L. knows that I’ve tried a lot of Yoga Today video classes in the last 3 months, and today asked what I’d recommend most for download. I’m nearing the end of a 3-month gift full membership to Yoga Today that gave me the opportunity to try as many of their online classes as I wanted, in addition to the weekly free class that is available with free membership.
I sorted through my DM posts and picked my favorites. I started send this in a personal message, and then thought that other yoga-interested friends may like to see these also.
I tried 25 new classes from Yoga Today. I repeated several of the 25 two or more times. I found that the two I repeated most (5 times each) were:
“Realign” (Adi) http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953126075, and
“Unwind” (Neesha) http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953126074.
Both nice classes, but I think the reason I had so many repeats was that they are both about 30 minutes, good fits when I was short on time. Most other classes are 50 minutes to an hour plus. Both are restorative type, "Unwind" the gentler of the two. I probably like "Realign" a little better most of the time, it has deeper stretches and is probably better for post-run aches, but Unwind is nice for a gentle, pre-bedtime relaxer. Not sure if I’d put them at the top of my download wish list right now when I have so many great full length classes on my list that are the same price. However, yoga preferences are subjective and personal and it really depends on the class type and duration one is interested in. Here are the ones I put high on my personal download list:
“Power Postures” (Adi) http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953125803
“Smile” (Neesha) http://yogatoday.com/videos/953126086
“Grounding with Hip Openers and Twists” (Neesha) http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953125826
“Lunging into Freedom” (Adi) http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953126041
“Powerful Standing Poses” - Couldn’t resist the title, or the note that it was the first class that Yoga Today ever produced with Neesha. http://www.yogatoday.com/videos/953125703
As of last night, I’ve done six out of Adi’s seven Chakra Series classes, really like them all, and will probably download all seven. My favorites of the six were both really kick-ass classes that were physically challenging:
In the process of making this list, for the sake of comparison I copied my full reviews of all 25 classes out of my DM posts, some of them short and some of them detailed, and saved them in a separate document. I'd be glad to share it with anyone who requests it.
