...but it's done. Legs did not want to run long again today. Dialed it way back, and really put the S in LSD on this one. Had to play the mental game all the way, but the good mental training and the long hard miles in the bank will be assets on race day. Another total sweatfest, 68F/100% humidity, was already soaked 20 minutes into the run.
Looks like I'm on track for record running miles in January, if I don't have to cut back on any scheduled runs. Previous monthly record was 202 miles (325 km) September, 2011. Should beat that by 7 or 8 miles. Hope you're having a great weekend! :)

You are rocking those miles, Vern. Love it. Great run, and even if it wasn't pretty, it sure was productive. You are kickass.

I know that feeling but you pushed through, awesome work again Vern.

The S is really minor - most important is you got the distance. That's why I was so upset with myself today for not doing it. It matters A LOT!

Way to work through it Vern!!! Great work out there!

You really can take on a challenge, Vern. Super job for getting in the miles.

19 following 16? That's hard core. You're training for Gusher again? Which plan?

Nice work indeed on tired legs and they really will help in those long races later on. Winning the Mental game is also great and sometimes more important.

@Keith, this time for the Gusher, I'm repeating my 50K training plan, but ditching the walk breaks and adding weekly pace runs and tempo runs. Perhaps a little overkill, but determined to PR this one after a disappointing race last year.

Given how warm it was this morning, and the humidity, I'd say you nailed this one Vern. Nothing slow about that at all, especially given your miles yesterday. You're the man!

Wow, 19 miles! You never gave up and that is awesome!

sounds like it was one of those mental battle runs, which always completely SUCK at the time, but once you've banked it you can look back at it and remember how you didn't give up. also- i don't think the S in LSD can ever really be too slow- not in terms of training, anyway.

@Danielle, for the 50K plan, I used one publised for the Run for the Toad, a 50K in Ontario, converted the kms to miles and tweaked here and there http://www.runforthetoad.com/trainingprogram.html

Huge weekend Vern -- and huge mental toughness. Looks like you are well on your way to that PR and to your biggest month ever. I know it is too soon to think about it but this is one taper period that is going to be both earned and needed. You are crushing 2012.

Awesome job Vern! Impressive weekend!

This weekend was INSANE!! Sweet jeebus Vern, your plan is killer, but you already have the straight-up 50K plan under you. Be gentle to yourself for a few days, you've paid for your rest in blood I think!

still a solid run if you ask me. and the mental training you got out of this one is just as important as the physical training!

@Elodie. I have a step-back week next week, miles dropping from 53 to 44, so I should get some nice recovery! Long run will be 20, but all of the others are relatively short. :)
