A 5 miler at "normal pace" to begin Week 12, a mere 34-mile recovery week, after last week's 50! I didn't even look at the Nike+ during this run and ran it by feel, neither holding back nor pushing it. The result was a slower than typical 5 that felt really good. I guess my body was telling me it needed to take it a little easier after the 50! A pleasant morning for running, 54 °F @5:55 AM. As an early morning runner, I'm not a huge fan of Daylight Time; this one was totally in the dark again after a few weeks of observing glorious sunrises during my runs. Waking HR: 47 bpm.

It won't take long before you'll be seeing those sunrises once again.. Great recovery run!

You deserve a recovery week after last week's high mileage! Great job today, Vern, and hope you are running into the sunrise again very soon.

Must feel good to have a slow week after the 50. Hal is smart.

Daylight savings time is difficult when you are an early morning riser and used to the seeing the sun. It will come back. Enjoy your recovery week - you deserve it.

As a morning runner I am not a fan of DST either...I have a hard time getting to sleep at an early enough time to wake up in time for my run...I guess after a couple of weeks I will be used to it..enjoy your recovery week!

Thanks, all! Keith, my legs don't know it's a slow week yet-- this week started with 5, just like last week! But I know they'll appreciate 6 instead of 10 tomorrow! And Hal IS smart-- he knows EXACTLY when you really need a break, and he gives it to you!

Vern, thats awesome, running it the dark must be so nice, but I think I would be a little scared out near where I live

Vern, I was thinking about the time change and how it negatively affects the morning runners. I wonder how many weeks it'll take until you have sunrises again. Nice run, good to listen to your body.

Thanks, Kelly and Barb! Renee, I found a sunrise calculator online. Time depend on location. At my latitude, sunrise will catch up to the time change on May 8! About 8 weeks!

Vern, I'm sorry it's going to take that long. As an evening runner, I'm happy, but also feeling a little guilty about celebrating. May the 8 weeks go fast!

Renee, no need to feel guilty! AM and PM runners each get about half a year with extra light around their running time! What could be more fair? ;-)

It's ok to pull back on the mileage after the record week you had.
