HaHA! I mean, I had a great experience getting my master's there, and I'm still involved with a bunch of stuff as an alum, but for my gym needs they were feeling wrong and this feels right...plus I'm from CU so I can't be mad at you ;) The pool is a standard 25 yards in length, which is what I'm used to! And they have a separate smaller one as well, so they siphons off many of the kids (which is nice and leaves me more space for laps.

Great job Ursula! That's awesome to hear that you are able to swim without pain! Great job. I'm still really a swimming newbie, and I really should get some lessons someday...BUT I know that when I would swim with a buoy I would go faster because I was probably dropping my hips. So whatever speed I got from my legs I lost from extra drag.

Thanks! And that makes sense. I think I also lost a lot of speed because I was too timid to properly kick because that caused the dreaded toe cramps (how can something so tiny cause so much pain?), and also stopping to empty out my goggles, which aren't sealing as well as I remember even though they're my awesome new ones. Will need to tweak those.

YOU DID IT! Hurray Ursula. That's not that slow for a mile swim. At least I don't think so. I thought you had a foot issue, you can't swing your legs at all? Good luck with recovery.

THANKS, FRIENDS! Ben, I probably can do the kicking, but my PT wanted me to be really cautious since prior to my surgery even that made my foot very tender the next day, so she wanted me to give this a go before I try full-on swimming. Also, maybe it's not slow! But since this was the ONLY exercise I could do pre-surgery, I'd gotten really fast at it. So for this my standards were higher, but that's silly since that was almost 5 months ago! Next week: actual swimming??

Say what you will about the yuppie factor - it's nice. I've been "slumming" it at the city park pools. Showers aren't much to speak of, but it's cheap and relatively easy to get to. Too bad about your goggles. That's funny. Mine actually felt pretty good today! I'll still look for some new ones. I may hit that RAM sport too.
