  1. RUN
great Around the hood. 2.4 mi 00:35 14:35 pace

So what I'm doing is re-starting with C25K, but in week four -- enough running that it's doing me some good, but not so much that I'm going to strain anything. Awesome so far.

  2. RUN
    great Pssst. 2.1 mi 00:31 14:58 pace

Some running. Some walking. All good.

As much as it sucks, I think you are making the right decision. I had mentioned to Emily that you hadn't posted anything recently and wondered if you would still try to shuffle through the 1/2. But why experience a miserable 1/2? Especially when it's your first 1/2...and, I think you have the bug, so I would be shocked if there weren't finish lines in your future. The only question I have: Are you going to see a doctor?

I think that you are absolutely making the right choice, and it's so great that you are listening to your body. This could be a good time to focus on some cross training so that when you start training for your fall half marathon, you'll have a strong base. When I strained my hamstring a couple of years ago, I started swimming and biking...and as a result actually became a faster runner! Good luck and don't get discouraged! You'll get your half :)

Patrick: We talked on the phone. He said it's a muscle pull and that I should rest; I asked if I should come in and see him, and he said only if I wanted to pay my co-pay to hear him say the same thing (He added that I should come in if it's still bad at the end of the month).

Jennifer: I'll start with walking later this month. And my wife and I love riding; the city has a a great urban trail system we use a lot, so that part will be easy. And, uh, it's still a little early for swimming here, but soon ;)

injured Limping around the hood. 1 mi 00:20 20:00 pace

First try since the 10K. The pain in the groin was immediate. I am screwed.

  5. walk
    good 1 mi 00:18 18:00 pace

I'm at work, and there's a fire call out in the country ... and that usually means walking back to the site. A year ago, today's walk over a steep, long hill would have left me gasping -- today, I ... read more

    good Naples Philharmonic 10K for M... 6.2 mi 01:21 12:59 pace

It was cool enough at the start -- about 60 degrees -- that the locals were griping about feeling cold. They got even over the last two miles, which were in full sun and rising temperatures. So thi... read more

  8. RUN
good Wilshire Lakes, Florida 3.22 mi 00:39 11:58 pace

After a lot of time off, I took my groin out for a run this morning, and both of us did OK. It was a little tight during and after, but I think we're going live. And I hope we'll both be OK for th... read more

  9. RUN
injured Abort, abort. 0.7 mi 00:13:00 18:34 pace

I've had fun joking about my nipples this week, but the groin thing is an actual problem. I couldn't go without a limp, and I couldn't do anything to get it to loosen up.

Smart move to bag the run. Limping through your miles is a great way to injure something else! I hope a day or two of rest helps!

  14. RUN
great North Park lake. 5.02 mi 01:05 12:53 pace

A beautiful morning for five miles with Beth A., Pam and Kelly K.

  15. RUN
good Around the hood. 1.5 mi 00:20 13:20 pace

I had another fight with Nike + today -- I lost -- so distance and time is approximate. Felt good, though, and I'm ready for something longer tomorrow.

  16. RUN
great Around the hood. 2.1 mi 00:25 11:52 pace

No pain in my right foot. To say I am relieved would be an understatement.

  17. RUN
good Around the hood. 3.13 mi 00:37 11:40 pace

Confession: This run was supposed to happen yesterday. Despite the weather (or maybe because of it) I finished with a pace I was pretty happy about.

  18. RUN
good North Park. 7.19 mi 01:50 15:17 pace

Four on trails, the rest on the lake loop. Great morning with Kelly K., Pam, Beth A. and Mindbling. And I got to see Jennie R. while she ran the Spring Thaw!

  19. RUN
great Around the hood. 3.15 mi 00:40 12:51 pace

Good run with Dave C. And I couldn't help but think of Kelly K. and her Kool Aid as I finished up the hill on Benton between California and Brighton.
