Merry Christmas DMers! Distance PR today. 1:30::1 ratios worked well. Two BRUTAL hills on the route which I knew were coming but still hated. I'm not as worried about Disney now. I definitely need to work on fueling. I took peanut butter and sport beans with me along with electrolyte solution but still am home with slight cramping and some lightheadedness. Now I am going to eat a big turkey dinner so that should help my recovery! Took out my Nathan fuel belt for the first time and didn't notice it at all so that was good. I will need to pick up a bigger pouch to fit food etc in it as the one that came with it is a little too small. Wore SmartWool socks that were nice and toasty. 45 degrees out and I was underdressed in capris, short sleeves, and a thin performance hoodie over that. Definitely got chilled in places. Ended the day with a bang as I saw the police dispatching a poor stupid doe that had tried to cross the road. Just another reminder to me that I will never, ever, ever be able to hunt!
Next week I'm going to aim for 9-10 miles on the long run but I am not as worried about Disney now. I managed 8 today and the rest of the race would just be a 5 miler race after that! No problem.
