Na! I'm unemployed now - there's a subtle difference..
Riding right now in Southern Germany and Austria, on perfect tarmac cycle paths that go on for miles and miles. Geez!

Ha, had the same experience riding through Denmark. Very pleasnt. Slightly surreal to see the club run peloton on the cycle path, but that's the trade off. If it's there it must be used.

Phil found himself in a dark tunnel. He was drawn towards the light. Don't go towards the light Phil! It's not your time! He kept going towards the light. There was nothing I could do.
-
I thought Phil didn't ride through dark tunnels. I thought he got off and rode round the side... ho ho!

I accompanied Phil on the Tour du Mont Blanc this week. Three days. 350km and 8500m of climbing in lovely big mountains devoid of the Summer traffic. A great trip - recommended.

And to think that there's a cyclosportif that does that entire loop in one day!

They don't do the Colle St Carlo Josh which is a nice 12% Italian road near Morgex. The one day Raid Extreme seems a waste of a lovely landscape as you really wouldn't see much of it. We did it in the opposite direction too which is far more rewarding. Two days though is a good challenge.

@ Josh. Still things to do! Will be trying out the Breithorn over the coming days then there are some insane gradients over the border in Italy. There's a 3km stretch on the GC that averages 15% with 400m at 20%. It was like a mini Zoncolan. Do you spin up those?

For film buffs, the view from the spot where the Harrington coach is left hanging at the end of The Italian Job. Thanks to Phil for finding the location. It's remote.

good Col d'Allos, col des Champs, ... 118 km
Near perfect loop. 3250m ascent in the first 90km followed by glorious 30km downhill. Another great new ride. Onwards to Italy.

Fabulous. I've yet to do Col des Champs and have this loop on the list. Do you think one direction is better than the other?

good Briancon - Galibier 59 km
Well I was passing. It was open. I needed a recovery ride. Met the champion of Luxembourg and some of his Leopards on the way down. Pootled up.

Schlecks on Treks. Amazing the Galibier is open this early, much snow up top?

I remember them using huge snow blowers to clear Galibier for the Dauphiné - metres of snow. This year has been so warm and almost snow free since mid Jan

You don't see that on a climb very often. Need a lower front end and a more forward saddle for the next assault. The Scanuppia. Hilarious.

Ha ha. Definitely need a sense of humour to go up there, Mike. I don't think I'd enjoy the descent very much either.

Awesome! I assume the '3200' refers to an elevation of 3200 m. That's over 10,000 feet! Come to Colorado anytime. I'd love to show you around.

Yes Josh, it's the Col du Jandri above Les Deux Alps. You climb it from Bourg d'Oisans. Amazing views. I may well be heading over to Boulder at the end of next month.
