So I decided to try the heart rate method...training at really low heart rate to burn fat as fuel and all that other science stuff that in the end I guess I'll get faster. I don't have a... read more

Excellent job Tracy! It's a great idea to try different things and find out what works best for you. I would personally be cautious about being over-reliant on the HRM though since if it is forcing you to slow your pace more than normal and you start doing all your runs like that you'll be training your body to run a slower pace. A mix of slow and fast runs is a great compromise.

Excellent half marathon Tracy! It's not a great way to start a race where you have to stand around beforehand due to an error in the organisation so for you beat your expected finishing time is even more impressive.

There is definitely a love/hate relationship with downhill running. Just go into next weekend with the expectation to just have fun and see what happens. I will be cheering you on down the mountain!

Thanks Jamie! Was feeling a little discourage because blisters slowed me down. I hope they heal by next Saturday and I don't experience that next week. Good luck to you doing a full down that canyon!!!

Mini run with the husband. Holy crap my legs felt so weird! They weren't as sore as last Saturdays downhill run, but felt like they'd give out any minute. Glad to shake them out at least.

Here's a picture of the beautiful scenery from this afternoons run. I'm usually up this canyon in the winter when we ski, I need to start getting up there in the warmer months.
