Glad to see you back!!! It's never easy getting started, but after a few weeks you'll start feeling great. Just take it easy!!! Don't push too hard to early. Looks like you're starting out right.

Still nursing the hamstring after the 17 miler last weekend. Elliptical doesn't seem to bother it.

Good job...the key is to maintain your fitness so you don't fall behind. Roll, stretch, ice, Motrin?, or whatever it takes to care for your hamstring. They can take a while to heal. Go easy on it when you do run as it loosens up. Keep training!

Thanks, Mark. I tried an easy run today and it seems to have made things worse. I'm doing the massage, ice, Motrin thing.

Keep cross training, doing an exercise that maintains fitness, but does not aggravate the hamstring. I don't know if they make a hamstring compression sleeve, but that would be great. I use a compression sleeve or compression socks if I have an issue with my calves or Achilles until they heal.

I ran for 15 mins and then my hamstring just stopped me, I ended up turning around and walking back. The body's been a bit sketchy since the last long run (17 on Sat).

You need the stick or other rolling device and roll the muscle out. Also massage works wonders. Drink plenty of fluids!
